Early in 2018 I had the pleasure of working with Caitie and Paul on some bespoke pieces for their June wedding. Soda, their beloved dog was, of course, going to be part of the big day which meant he needed something extra special to wear. I mentioned to Caitie that Soda could match the groom and groomsmen, let's just say that idea was a hit and we instantly started discussing all the possibilities.
The couple decided on bow ties for all of the groomsmen plus a clip on kids one - a little easier and more comfortable for a smaller neck.
We discussed the style and colours that would fit in with the rest of the wedding theme and the search for the perfect fabric began. After sending several samples to be looked over and tried on, they settled on this wonderful blue floral Liberty pattern.
Once the fabric had been decided, we then looked at Soda's accessories - a bespoke collar, bow tie and tag. Throughout the process different options and finishes were discussed, silver hardware was chosen for the collar which went beautifully with the hand stamped sterling silver 'Dog of Honour' ID tag.
This gorgeous fabric was to become a momento for their wedding day, with this in mind we felt it would be nice to have pieces to use not just not on the big day, but after too. Makeup pouches for the the bride and bridesmaid were personalised with a hand stamped element and decorative hearts complete with vintage buttons were given to close family involved in the wedding, all in the same special fabric that will be a little reminder of the magic day forever.
It's all in the details...
Once the pieces were all made they were packaged and presented in recycled brown paper boxes, which tied in with the invites and theme of the wedding. Finished off with twine it was all ready to be handed over ahead of the day.
As the beautiful bride and groom were expecting a little addition to their family in a few months time, I wanted to create something special for them - a nod to the fact that baby Barker was there on the day and so that EVERY member of the family had something in the fabric to treasure. That's when this little ted was made. Very much a challenge, but I so enjoyed making him and hope he will be something they can all look at in the future and remember that very special time.
I was lucky enough to be invited to join Paul and Caitie on their wedding day. It was such a stunning wedding and all the groomsmen and Soda looked amazing in their matching bow ties - which were all kept on long into the night! I feel very honoured to have been asked to create these few special items and play just a small part in such a magical day.
So thank you to Paul and Caitie, for giving me this wonderful opportunity and trusting me with the most important outfit of the day - Soda's attire of course! I joke, but seriously, it was an honour to be part of it and even more so to be there to celebrate and enjoy the day with you all.
